Exact spacing between items

Last updated

You can precisely space items in illustrator using the distribute spacing tool. The tool is part of the align panel.

I thought this tool evenly spaced items using the available space of the selection - horizontally from the left most item to the right most item.

However, you can be more precise.

Position left most item where you want it to be.

Highlight the items to space out.

Change the Align To setting from Align to Selection to Align to Key Object.

Make sure the left most item is the key object. Click on it if not.

Then enter a px number for the distance you want between each item. You'll need to take into account any extra spacing you've given the item.

Then hit the Horizontal Distribute Space button.
